Biography

Sylvestre Gauvrit (b. 1977, France) is a French sculptor based between The Hague and Pietrasanta, Italy.

Working across marble, stone and metal, his sculptures explore movement through matter — the point at which weight appears to give way to flow, tension and balance.

His practice brings together direct engagement with material, traditional sculptural knowledge and advanced digital processes. From intimate works to monumental commissions, each sculpture emerges through a dialogue between material resistance, structural precision and movement.

Gauvrit’s works are held in private and corporate collections across Europe and Asia, with site-specific commissions for international developers and institutions including BlackRock Singapore, Greentown China and Swire Properties Hong Kong.

Matter  ·  Process  ·  Transformation

Rather than imposing a predetermined form, Gauvrit works with the inherent structure of each material — its density, veining, resistance and internal structure.

Traditional carving, digital modelling and advanced fabrication become part of the same sculptural process: a search for forms in which mass, gravity and movement remain in tension.
